How Does Lunch Time Work?
- You will see your designated lunch period on your timetable. Lunch in most high schools is 40 minutes in length.
- There may be one, two or three different lunch times in a high school depending on the number of students attending the school.
- Your lunch period will have students from all grades.
- You can bring your own lunch or buy it in the cafeteria.
- All high schools have cafeterias that serve hot food and sandwiches.
- The average cost of a prepared hot meal is between 5 and 6 dollars.
- Some food examples are french fries, hamburgers, pasta, rice, veal and pizza.
- The cafeteria often has different food items for the different days of the week.
- The cafeteria can also have cultural theme days. On these theme days, food from the various countries represented in your school will be prepared and served.
- Many high schools have a rule where junior students cannot leave school property during lunch, because of time restrictions.
