Questions
What Happens if I Fail a Course?
If you choose your courses and levels accurately the chances of failing courses are very low. Students usually fail courses when:
- They take them at a level too difficult for their ability.
- They do not attend classes.
- They fail to keep up with the homework.
With hard work, effort and consistency you will be successful in high school. After all this, if you find yourself in the position of failing a class there are several things you can do.
Summer School
- Summer school begins in the 1st week of July and runs for 3 1/2 weeks.
- Summer school offers new credit courses that require a student to attend all day classes.
- Summer school offers upgrading courses for students who may have failed their regular course during the year.
- Summer school programs require students to have achieved at least a 35% in their failing course in order to take an upgrading course.
- Students must apply to summer school before the end of June.
Night School
- Night school runs for two sessions every year.
- One session beginning in October and ending in January, and the second session beginning in February and ending in June.
- Night school runs two nights a week and is approximately three and half hours each night.
- You cannot do an upgrading course in night school.
- A student who failed a course during the year and wants to re-take the course at night must re-do the entire course.
- Students must apply to night school by the end of September for the first session and the end of January for the second session.
On-line Courses
- During both summer school and night school sessions, on-line courses are offered.
- These courses are limited in numbers.
- There is an introductory session that takes place at a central site and then students work on these courses independently from a home computer.
- You must have an email address to complete on line courses.
- The same rules that govern night school and summer school apply to on line learning.
